Engility’s NASA Aeronautics group provides support to NASA in all disciplines required for Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Air Traffic Management (ATM) Advanced Concept Development, System analysis, Decision Support Tool Design and Development and Field Observations and evaluations.  This Chief Engineer will support research and development of software systems investigating advanced civil air traffic control (ATC/ATM) and flight planning concepts.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Lead engineer for research and development of software systems investigating advanced civil air traffic control (ATC/ATM) and flight planning concepts.
  • Prepare proposals, negotiate requirements with customers at government agencies (NASA, FAA) and with other contractors.
  • Plan research goals, estimate development costs, set and maintain schedules for a group of 4-6 developers and analysts.
  • Regularly meet or teleconference with customers and other contractors to coordinate efforts and track progress.
  • Represent Engility and customer at conferences and technical exchange meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline
  • At least 20 years of relevant experience
  • At least 10 years leading advanced software development for aviation-related or transportation-related software
  • Project planning experience
  • Experience in Systems Integration
  • Good communication skills and professional presentation

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline
  • Advanced degree in aeronautical engineering or closely related field
  • Knowledge of ATC, air traffic management, and/or airline dispatch procedures
  • Track record of research publication
