Engility is hiring a Systems Engineer with network defense expertise to join our cyber team supporting the Government Customer’s Computer Network Defense (CND) Program. The dedicated professionals supporting this effort develop a variety of security solutions. We provide mission-focused end-to-end systems engineering and analytic expertise to enhance operationally deployed systems, guide the acquisition of complex systems under development, and architect systems and technologies of the future. We provide solutions that respond efficiently and effectively to customer requirements by providing our systems engineering disciplines. This approach yields outstanding program execution, which translates directly into mission success.


Responsibilities include:

  • Provide assessments and analyses of network architecture for monitoring interfaces
  • Support customer efforts to determine effectiveness of monitoring techniques  
  • Troubleshoot customer sensors and network devices to resolve and improve sensor functionality
  • Coordinate with remote and local sites on monitoring architecture, development, and implementation
  • Respond to corporate requests as required

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess an active Top Secret clearance; TS/SCI clearance with ability to successfully obtain a polygraph strongly preferred
  • Must currently possess an active DoD 8570 IAT Level II or IAT Level III cyber certification (Customer requirement; no exceptions.  Please note that only Security + CE certifications are DoD 8570-compliant…the old Security + certification without the Continuing Education requirement is  NOT DoD 8570-compliant)
  • Must have the ability to obtain privileged user access (required to perform mandatory duties)
  • Must have bachelor’s degree and at least four (4) years of IT working experience (candidates without a bachelor’s degree will be considered with six (6) or more years of experience)
  • Must have hands-on experience assessing and analyzing network architecture for monitoring interfaces
  • Must have knowledge of VMs and VSphere 
  • Must be willing and able to travel occasionally and provide support at contractor sites 
  • Must possess strong communications skills (writing, speaking) and be willing to develop and update project documentation
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills, including the ability to track multiple projects simultaneously

Desired Qualifications

  • Security + CE, CISSP certifications are highly desired
  • Open source or commercial IDS applications experience (Bro, Suricata, ELK) is highly desired
  • SAN and Tape Library design experience is highly desired
  • Network command line experience is desired
  • RedHat or CentOS experience is desired
  • Experience with Windows Domain Controllers, Exchange Servers, and SCCM is desired
