Description

Engility is seeking an experienced professional to join the Space Systems Group (SSG).  SSG provides specialized engineering, analysis and operations support to a variety of Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. We support the generation after next of national security-related systems based in space, in the air and on the ground.

 

SSG has an opening for an experienced engineer to provide customer-facing systems engineering and technical advisory services to an IC Research and Development (R&D) customer. The customer is developing the next-generation of spacecraft architectures, hardware and software solutions for the IC. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with the customer’s Program Managers to apply System Engineering principles and technical expertise to help define, acquire, deploy, manage and maintain complex satellite ground architectures
  • Work with the customer to explore new missions, CONOPs, and architectures to solve some of the hardest intelligence problems, conducting and presenting trade studies and proposed architectural solutions for customer
  • Develop, capture and decompose requirements to support program / systems acquisition. Develop and manage interface control documents
  • Provide support to acquisition, source selection and programmatic processes, including: contracts artifact development, tracking and source selection support; preparation for milestone and program reviews; support to program budget, schedule, risk management, configuration management, and governance briefings.
  • Guide programs through various risk reduction test and readiness reviews
  • Work with the customer’s Program Managers to support research and development (R&D) of future spacecraft architectures, capabilities and systems
  • Provide technical support as needed for execution of customer tasks

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in engineering, science, or related discipline
  • 10 years’ experience in space systems engineering and integration
  • 5 years’ System Engineering experience including DODAF or equivalent concepts and products
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and energetic environment
  • Working knowledge of configuration management, baseline control contract requirements specifications and verification and validation procedures
  • Experience building strategic relationships across directorates / IC agencies
  • Effective interpersonal skills and strong briefing and writing skills
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Aptitude for on-site Systems Engineering and Technical Advisor (SETA) work
  • Active TS/SCI

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, or related discipline
  • 10 years System Engineering experience using DODAF or equivalent concepts and products
  • 5 years supporting satellite ground systems
  • Experience with spacecraft integration and testing including systems engineering as applied to satellite/ground architectures, spacecraft and payloads
  • Experience with schedule, financial, technical and risk aspects of spacecraft programs
  • Ability to use STK to perform mission analysis
  • Experience in data collection, data processing, sensor principles, concept of operations (CONOPS)
  • Experience with the government acquisition cycle, requirements processes, budgetary practices and acquisition documentation
  • Experience consulting on current and future IC satellites acquisition and construction
  • Experience with Satellite TT&C systems and knowledge of COMSEC technologies
  • Experience with RFC and DR processes
  • Experience with IC R&D organizations
