Engility is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to join an exciting program in Northern Virginia. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a willingness to learn. The position will include troubleshooting of complex issues and working with system users to document problems and work toward a resolution. The position also requires strong interpersonal and communications skills for interfacing with a variety of customers and system users. The candidate will be part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and will be responsible for all aspects of administration and support for several mission-critical systems and networks.
Typical responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing support for the implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance Information Technology (IT) systems in support of our customer;
  • Managing a wide variety of IT systems infrastructure and processes related to those systems;
  • Providing support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution;
  • Performing basic scripting procedures and working with the customer’s systems on a daily basis;
  • Provide operations and maintenance support to systems;
  • Maintaining awareness of technical trends for strategic consideration in current/future systems
  • Identifying technical risks to systems and develop mitigation strategies; and
  • Defining processes, policies, and procedures for all aspects of system administration.

Required Qualifications

  • An active Top Secret clearance with access to sensitive compartmented information (TS/SCI);
  • The ability to complete a counter-intelligence scope polygraph (CSP);
  • 3+ years of experience (minimum) with systems administration, virtualization, server administration;
  • 3 years (minimum) experience building and maintaining Microsoft Hypervisor and/or VMWare ESXI Servers;
  • 1 year (minimum) experience, background in, knowledge of, or ability to write scripts in PowerShell and legacy Windows scripting languages to automate administration functions and to parse files;
  • The CompTIA Security+ CE or other certification that would enable the candidate to qualify as an Information Assurance Technician Level II (IAT Level II) in accordance with DoD 8570.01M;
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with degree, OR 14 years experience in lieu of degree


Desired Qualifications

  • Having completed a counter-intelligence scope polygraph within the last five (5) years;
  • The Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification in Windows Server version 2008R2 or newer;
  • Experience implementing and administering NetApp® data storage solutions in multiprotocol environments. NetApp® Certified Data Administrator certification;
  • Experience with establishing procedures for creating, maintaining, and changing account permissions and installations;
  • Experience administering enterprise Linux environments. The Red Hat Certified System Administrator (or similar) certification;
  • The ability to effectively provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain hardware/software in a related infrastructure;
  • The ability to identify and establish system baselines;
  • The ability to conduct research and to develop solutions for emergent issues;
  • Experience with the secure design, development, implementation, operation, maintenance, and accreditation of national security systems;
  • Ability to work from a Command Line Interface (CLI).
  • Experience with system performance tuning and monitoring;
  • Background in or knowledge of Oracle/SQL database administration;
  • Background in or knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs);
  • Experience with backup tools such as Symantec Backup Exec. The ability to execute and test system backups; and
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
