Engility is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer that will specialize as an Automation Technical Expert in our Springfield, VA location.  In this position, you will support a government’s Research Team providing technical subject matter support and assist with the achievement of the research goals in the particular technical focus areas of the computer automation. In addition, you will provide strategic program and acquisition planning support for basic and applied research on advanced technology development activities to ensure new project requests sufficiently address the key Heilmeier questions (i.e., who, what, where, why, etc.). Support shall also include assisting with development of research requirements, analysis of project proof-of-concept proposals, review of industry technical capabilities and advancements, definition of program plans, coordination for technical reviews and program planning meetings, technical evaluation, requirements planning and documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI and be willing and able to pass a CI polygraph as required.
  • Must have 12 years of total work experience, 8 of which must be relevant to the job description.
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science or other related field.  
  • Experience with DOD/IC Acquisition processes and ability to clearly define requirements.
  • Experience with agile acquisition processes.
  • Coordinate public disclosures, including oral and written communications and presentations with the Communications team, Research and Technology Protection (RTP) team, and Security to obtain solicit input and secure approval for public release.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in a dynamic work environment and being able to respond to short deadlines.
  • Experience supporting advanced research and development activities and organizations with an emphasis on knowledge flow analysis, metrics, human-machine interface, human computation systems, peer-reviewed test plans, technical suitability evaluations, prototyping, sentient, high performance computing, AI, machine learning, deep learning.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating and reviewing of documents needed for procurement packages to include Statements of Work, Market Research, Requests for Information, Determination and Findings, Independent Government Cost Estimates, Acquisition Plans, Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs), Request for Clarification review and responses, etc.
  • Experience with system integration and system engineering.
  • Familiarity with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and the functional area of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT).
  • Familiarity with Research projects within Computer Automation.
  • M.S. or PhD in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or a related discipline is desired.
