The Remote Sensing Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) team in El Segundo, CA has an immediate need for a Senior Systems Engineer with experience to design and model the behavior of the ground segment for space systems.  This individual will be a Systems Engineer with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) Space-Based Remote Sensing and related Ground systems.  Candidate will provide SE&I support to the SBIRS, Future OPIR and Environmental Monitoring programs of the Space and Missile Systems Center Remote Sensing Directorate (SMC/RS). Major duties of the position include:

  • Developing and using ground segment simulations to establish system requirements or estimate system performance
  • Recommend design approaches to use
  • Ensure effective integration across space, ground, operations, and data exploitation; hardware and software, and all other aspects of systems and organizations within the Enterprise.
  • Developing acquisition-related briefings, plans, papers, and other documentation in support of SMC/RS decision making.
  • Collaborating with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Air Force.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required in Electrical, Aeronautical, Mechanical engineering, Computer Science or Operations Research, or similar technical degree.
  • Current TS/SCI Clearance
  • 14+ years of strong demonstrated system engineering experience with space system ground, operations and sustainment segments of a DoD program with a proven delivery record.
  • Experience writing and delivering technical documents and briefings.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams.   

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Environmental Monitoring and/or SBIRS-specific experience highly desirable.
  • Strong individual who takes the initiative to identify, own and solve customer problems.
  • Extremely motivated individual who is a self-starter and a team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as organizational skill.
