Engility is seeking a talented and experienced Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer to join an elite Program Office Team in our Chantilly, VA office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for taking post-CDR designs across the finish line through I&T and into operations. The position entails review of formal CDRL deliveries and End Item packages, participating in Manufacturing Readiness Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews and the conduct of those activities.

Other key responsibilities are:

  • Review test plans and procedures
  • Participate in anomaly resolution and failure review boards
  • Driving requirements verification and sell-off
  • Planning and execution of on-orbit initialization and checkout activities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline plus 15 years of experience in hardware development is required.
  • An active TS/SCI clearance is required.
  • Significant experience in spacecraft hardware integration and test (instruments, payloads, bus, space vehicle) with emphasis on optics and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to understand and interpret mechanical drawings is essential. It requires the ability to work in a multi-organization, high visibility, schedule-driven environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Significant level of travel is required at times during critical I&T events (25 – 50%).
  • This program has a very lean Program Office staff so the ability to accommodate change, manage priorities and apply creative solutions is a plus.
