Engility Corporation is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist for the SPAWAR Consolidated Afloat & Network Enterprise Services (CANES) program located in Chesapeake and Norfolk, VA.


The Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services program is the Navy’s next generation tactical afloat network. CANES represents the consolidation and enhancement of five shipboard legacy network programs to provide the common computing environment for more than 40 command, control, intelligence and logistics applications.


The successful candidate develops, modifies, applies, and maintains standards for software quality operating methods, processes, systems and procedures. Conducts software inspection, testing, verification and validation. Implements software development and maintenance processes and methods. Ensures measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Develops overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of the software quality program according to project, process and contract requirements and objectives. Ensures that project and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or contract. Reviews software design, change specifications, and plans against contractual and/or process requirements. Reviews include applicable specifications, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies. Performs or directs verification of software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability.


Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Plan, develop, document, and implement a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Program aspects. Ensure comprehensive software quality is attained and all contractual requirements are satisfied.
  • NAVSEA QMS - Establish, document, implement, and maintain a Quality Management System as a means of ensuring that product conforms to specified requirements.  The Quality Management System shall be submitted to the SUPERVISOR for a document review and acceptance.  The contractor shall have an acceptable documented Quality Management System, in accordance with this Standard Item, in place to receive an award of a Job Order.  The Quality Management System shall be subject to periodic audits by the SUPERVISOR throughout the contract.
  • Apply the SQA process to the following: software requirements; software design; software engineering standards, practices, and procedures; computer program implementation; software documentation, software testing; software library controls; configuration management; corrective action
  • Develop and maintain a repository to include all tested and released applications and documentation.
  • Participate in development activities as required to understand system, software and operational needs in order to follow a deficiency report through the correction process.
  • Interface with the assigned development team to complete these tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret Clearance at a minimum
  • Degree Requirements: BS/BA; MS degree preferred.
  • Relevant Experience (amount and type): 6+ related technical years' experience.
  • Have extensive knowledge of supporting Operating Systems: Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, VMWare vSphere, CISCO, UNIX and familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of applications, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SQA process and practices for web based application development, database definition and maintenance, and SQA for virtualized environments.
  • Strong technical writing abilities.
