The System Engineer will provide design engineering support to the Lead System Engineer for the E-2D Aviation Support Equipment programs at NAVAIR Lakehurst N.J. Tasks involve the review of designs and design changes and relevant technical documentation related to support equipment for the program.


Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Engage with program IPTs to align aircraft Support Equipment (SE) and Air Vehicle / Control Segment capability deployments, to identify/resolve SE issues, and to influence aircraft system design for optimal supportability.
  • Responsible for the definition, flow down, and evaluation of SE system requirements.
  • Responsible for the technical management of SE acquisition efforts, including: project requirements definition, drafting design specification documents, project plan development/maintenance, systems engineering planning, acquisition strategy development, procurement package development, baseline documentation development/review, systems engineering technical review orchestration, market research, trade studies, and SE acquisition team coordination.
  • Responsible for overseeing of the development testing, including development of test plans and testing procedure for verification of the design. Familiarization with MIL-STD-810 is desirable.
  • Applying systems engineering management skills to trade studies, risk management, technical reviews and other deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Travel 10-15% may be required
  • Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems) from an accredited college or university
  • Experience in engineering development and testing of systems.
  • Must have demonstrated at least intermediate level skills associated with systems engineering processes, and a proven ability to perform the duties described above.
  • Proven communication skills.
  • Current Secret Security Clearance is required. Existing Interim is acceptable. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the DoN Systems Engineering Process and the DoN Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) policy and process.
  • DoD Design Processes and Documentation
  • Knowledge of Aviation Support Equipment
  • Experience with ship installed systems, Aviation operations and diagnostics
  • Experience conducting Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety Analyses
  • Seven or more years of experience.
