Engility is seeking an Expert Airborne Systems and Payload Analyst to support a critical program for our Intelligence Community customer. This position is vital to the success of the program and our national security and provides a tremendous opportunity for technical leadership as a contractor.  The successful candidate will apply their modeling and simulation expertise to assess aircraft and payload performance in various operating environments. This position is vital to the success of the program and provides tremendous opportunity for technical leadership as a contractor. Engineers with background in any imaging domain should apply.  Position duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide engineering insight into various aspects of the payload development lifecycle, from concept initiation, system definition, system design, system development, system integration, system deployment, mission execution, and system maintenance
  • Develop technical requirements for payload design, test, and optimization, to include payload subsystems
  • Analyze payload test data and measure performance against requirements
  • Analyze payload output and assess imaging algorithm performance
  • Review program for technical risks and recommend mitigation approaches
  • Review system architecture, requirements flow-down, verification methodologies, CONOPS and ICD documentation, test plans and other design artifacts across the program
  • Plan mission deployment, integration and operations strategies
  • Effectively communicate and interface with engineers from various contractor and government organizations; prepare and present briefings to customers on technical topics when requested
  • Provide technical recommendations during working groups, engineering review boards, design reviews, test readiness reviews, operational readiness reviews, technical exchange meetings, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI.
  • Requires one of the following education and experience combinations.
    • Bachelor's Degree and 15 years of relevant experience
    • Master's Degree and 13 years of relevant experience
    • PhD and 10 years of relevant experience
  • Must and an in-depth understanding of the Payload Engineering discipline
  • Ability to identify system impacts and pitfalls associated with imaging systems from the telescope and lens/mirror assemblies to the focal plane, supporting subsystems and back end data processing
  • Experience in multiple imaging techniques such as line scan and framing
  • Ability to identify system impacts and pitfalls associated with energy-based electromagnetic systems from the antenna (monolithic or array, fixed or electronically steered) and feed electronics, to the receive and recording subsystems and back end data processing
  • Experience in test plan development, planning, execution and review
