Description

Engility is seeking skilled Image Scientists to support a critical program for our Intelligence Community customer. This position is vital to the success of the program and our national security and provides a tremendous opportunity for technical leadership as a contractor.  The successful candidate will have deep technical knowledge of imaging phenomenology to support a critical customer program. This position is vital to the success of the program and provides tremendous opportunity for technical leadership as a contractor. Engineers with background in any imaging domain should apply. The successful candidate will apply their experience and expertise in developing and testing photogrammetric models to support a critical customer mission. This position will support program reviews and technical exchange meetings; provide technical assessments; clarify program requirements, interfaces, and implementations; provide engineering assessments to define system requirements and capabilities, designs, system verification, and transition to operations; and support verification, validation, and readiness activities. Additional duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide scientific insight into various aspects of the imaging chain from energy detection to image processing, registration, and correction
  • Develop and test image processing software
  • Analyze imaging test data and measure performance against requirements
  • Analyze imaging output and assess algorithm performance
  • Identify improvements to imaging chain, to include sensor/payload developments (hardware) as well as software developments
  • Develop technical requirements for imaging algorithms and test procedures
  • Recommend imaging optimization techniques
  • Identify and evaluate new imaging techniques and cutting edge technology
  • Effectively communicate and interface with engineers from various contractor and government organizations; prepare and present briefings to customers on technical topics when requested
  • Provide technical recommendations during working groups, engineering review boards, design reviews, test readiness reviews, operational readiness reviews, technical exchange meetings, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 15 years of relevant experience OR a Master’s degree and 12 years of relevant experience OR a PhD and 10 years of relevant experience in the field of imagery.
  • Prior experience developing and testing image processing software and building image quality models
  • In depth understanding of imaging phenomenology
  • Ability to identify system impacts and pitfalls associated with imaging systems from the telescope and lens/mirror assemblies to the focal plane, supporting subsystems and back end data processing
  • Experience in multiple imaging techniques such as line scan and framing
  • Experience in test plan development, planning, execution and review
