Performs software development and maintenance of applications and systems for the organization. Plans and coordinates all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of the organization's applications. Conducts software coding, testing, debugging and installation of an organization's application systems. Documents requirements for databases, applications, and systems. Works closely with customers to document current operating procedures and support their projected operational needs. Consults with end users to test and debug applications. May serve as an expert in all aspects of software design, development, and maintenance and may support multiple development teams and systems. Responsible for developing, distributing, supporting, enforcing, and integrating best practices and technology standards across the organization. Researches, collects, and reports information on the ability and capacity of products and systems. Allocates programming team resources and sets delivery schedule to meet client requirements. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Assists in the formulation of procedures and best practices for users of applications and systems.
Demonstrates expertise in a variety of computer programming concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Leads and directs the work of others. Typically reports to department management or executive. May provide consultation on complex projects and be a top level contributor/specialist in their department. Must be an expert at problem solving, identifying risk, and communicating results and recommendations to department management.
Requires at least 10 years of experience with at least 1 certification in the area of specialization; a minimum of 60 semester hours of formal education from an accredited institution working towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a directly related curriculum and at least 6 years of experience; or an Associate’s degree with at least 4 years of experience. Additional certifications in the area of specialization may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
