Engility is seeking an experienced professional to join Space Systems Group.  Space Systems provides specialized engineering, analysis and support to a variety of Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. We support the generation after next of national security-related space systems and related architecture and ground infrastructure.

Space Systems has an opening for an Optical Systems engineer to provide analysis support to multiple customers evaluating candidate space and ground based optical sensor performance and providing oversight of sensor design, fabrication, and test projects. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:


•Develop optical performance requirements for imaging and space surveillance systems including image quality and sensitivity requirements
•Develop end to end optical systems including sensor requirements, processing algorithms, and workflows definitions
•Develop image processing algorithms
•Represent the Government in design reviews for sensors and spacecraft development programs
•Develop and present reports and presentations to clearly convey analysis results to a wide range of audiences
•Provide subject matter expertise as appropriate

Required Qualifications

•MS in physics, applied physics, math, or related discipline
•Good working knowledge of MS Office applications
•Effective interpersonal skills and strong briefing and writing skills
•10 years’ experience (or equivalent) in free space optics
•Must be able to obtain a security clearance and pass a polygraph



Desired Qualifications

- Education: PhD in applied physics, engineering, or related discipline
- Fluency with Python and MATLAB and familiarity with ZEMAX and orbit analysis and modeling tools (e.g. STK)
- Active TS/SCI strongly preferred
